Cookie Policy

Last updated September 25, 2026

This page covers what the site keeps in your browser, and what you can do about it. For personal data in general, see the Privacy Policy.

What this covers

Cookies are small records a website writes into your browser. This site also uses localStorage, which is a separate browser feature, but here it does exactly the same job, and the same rules apply to it. So this page covers the two together.

Always on

A few items only keep a setting you chose, so it survives the next page load. The site can't remember your choices without them, which makes them strictly necessary, and strictly necessary storage doesn't need your consent.

Strictly necessary

Cookie choice

cookie-consent in localStorage, first party, set to all or essential. It stores your answer to the cookie question, so the site remembers it and doesn't ask you again on every visit. No expiry, it stays until you clear site data.

Theme

theme in localStorage, first party, set to light or dark. It keeps the scheme you picked, so your next visit starts in it. No expiry either.

Language

Possibly a NEXT_LOCALE cookie, first party, written when you switch the language. It remembers the language you chose.

Microsoft Clarity, only if you say yes

I use Microsoft Clarity for one thing: I'm only looking at how you interact with the site, to make sure there are no errors to be found during your sessions here, and if there are, to fix them.

Clarity isn't strictly necessary, so it doesn't load until you pick "all" on the cookie banner. Pick "essential", and it never loads at all. Once you agree, Clarity records how the pages render and what you do on them (clicks, scrolls, mouse movement, the errors that come up) and turns that into session recordings and heatmaps. Numbers and email addresses are masked by default, and whatever you type into a form field is always masked, so your contact-form message never shows up in a recording.

Set by Clarity, only with your consent

_clck

First party. Keeps your Clarity user ID and preferences, so your visits to this site count as the same user. Expires after 1 year.

_clsk

First party. Joins the pages you open during one visit into a single session recording. Expires after 1 day.

CLID

Third party, on Microsoft's own domain. Marks the first time Clarity saw your browser on any site that uses Clarity. Microsoft sets its lifetime.

MUID, MR, SM, ANONCHK

Third party, Microsoft's own cookies. MUID identifies a browser across Microsoft sites, and Microsoft uses it for advertising, site analytics and its own operations. MR and SM keep MUID refreshed and in sync. ANONCHK is always 0 here, because Clarity doesn't use Microsoft's advertising cookie. Microsoft sets their lifetimes.

Microsoft keeps a recording for 30 days, and a favorited recording or a random sample of recordings for up to 9 months. Where that data goes and on what basis is in the Privacy Policy.

Changing your mind

You can change your answer any time from the cookie settings on the site. Switch to "essential", and Clarity stops, deletes its cookies, and stays off on your next visits. Clearing site data in your browser removes everything on this page as well, and the banner asks you again next time. You can also block storage for this site entirely. Nothing breaks either way, the default theme just comes back.

Changes and questions

When what the site stores changes, this page changes with it, and so does the "last updated" date. Questions go to yehor@yeskiy.com.

So, what's broken?

Tell me the problem, a rough budget, and a timeline if you have one. I reply within 24h on weekdays.
